Background:
The Youth in Film (YIF) program was established at the District of North Vancouver in 1998 to create an opportunity in which North Shore Youth could benefit from film industry donations and contributions. Fees are collected from productions working in the District of North Vancouver to fund youth in our community wishing to enter the film industry as a career. 


Available bursaries: 

  • One bursary with a value of $2000 for each of the District of North Vancouver public secondary schools
  • Two bursaries valued at $2000 each for students from any of the District of North Vancouver public secondary schools enrolled in the Indigenous Digital Filmmaking Diploma at Capilano University

For the purpose of processing District of North Vancouver Youth in Film bursary awards, a student’s personal information will be collected under the authority of the Freedom and Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Section 26(c). Council considers permissive tax exemptions for non-profit organizations that contribute to District residents' well-being and improve their quality of life. Section 224 of the Community Charter, gives Council the authority to exempt certain land and/or improvements from municipal property taxes.
Organizations considering applying for a permissive tax exemption must meet the general criteria outlined in our Taxation Exemptions by Council Guidelines.
If you're applying for an exemption for more than one property, you can include up to 20 properties in this application form.
For each additional property, you'll need to provide detailed information, tell us what each property is used for and choose the relevant clause from section 224 of the Community Charter.

Permissive tax exemption for places of public worship applies to:

It does not apply to spaces such as a school, daycare, rental hall, or other rental spaces. You may be eligible to apply for a general permissive tax exemption for these areas of the property.
